In the past, when I have had some problems configuring a component, I'd just call the company. A couple of times, my mistake was pretty embarrassingly stupid, but I've always found the support guys to be very friendly and helpful. In at least two cases that I can recall, I got a whole lot more from them than I had expected - once a guy wrote me a custom firmware and another time a guy prototyped me a substantial chunk of code that did what I needed and then just sent me the source.
My advice would be to contact XBow. I perused their site - they have some really interesting stuff... one of my evening projects recently is making my own UAV and they have some neat gear there (wonder what it costs). Anyway, I was looking at their site, and under Support -> FAQs, there is a tab "ask a question". I'd submit a question there. And then if you didn't get the answer you needed, I'd hunt down a phone number and would call them.
