XBMC version 12 officially supports Android & Pi.

Supports HD Audio as well as HD Video support on "higher end devices" such as the Nexus 7 and 10.

nice, been running the beta and its well polished. real smooth running. i'd imagine the official release is almost the exact same. its my go-to video app now.

I'll try it when I get home but I'm not hopeful on HD video playback. I bet you majority of the stuff is still software decoded like their betas and rc.

I updated my Nexus 7 to the official release and tested couple 720p and 1080p movies streamed via SMB shares. Most of the 720p videos played ok. Most of 1080p videos were choppy. It's definitely improved over the betas and RC but still inferior to JB AppleTV2 which has single core A4 cpu, SGX535 gpu, and 256mb ram. HD hardware Android support is still spotty with this final release. It's bit disappointing I still have to use Dice and MX player to play HD videos on Android, but I'm happy we finally have official stable XBMC Android port. All my favorite video and program plugins work beautifully on Android and that's really all I need on the Android port.

Why do people say this, let alone do this? The N7 is a 720p device.

I'd imagine that he's got some 1080p media that he doesn't want to re encode.

Most people store only one version of their media, without bothering to re-encode them for the different devices they have.

The statement is only saying that the N7 hardware has no problem in playing back a 1080p media.
