XBMC and file server- low power

So what would be the best XBMC and file server? Mini ITX or? Looking for some ideas. I'm not going NAS or anything, just USB and some external HD's. want this out by my TV so would like Low power, but to be able to run XBMC and all its do-hickies. been running WORLDBOOKS with lan connections, but if there was ever a crappy products its that one, cant keep a connection to the network for over a day.. my goplug (net USB adpater you can plug hds in) stays on all the time.. the worldbooks (im on my 3rd, ya, Im stupid, but they do replace for free) never stay connected. SO im building s small file srver so to speak. and Looking for some thoughts.
