question about xbmc - does it have all the necessary codecs or do I need to have a codec pack installed on my htpc, like shark007 or CCCP codec packs?

It plays everything internally, doesn't use external codecs at all. Nothing else required for media playback.

I'm more interested in full BD ISO support than PVR support. How is XBMC coming along with BD ISO support?

It can optionally use external players and thus codecs of your choice though.

It plays bd iso now. Huge step forward. It was working perfectly for me until I changed video cards.
