XBLA Soul Calibur pics

Link - I wonder how much they are relaxing the XBLA size limit for this.

Namco Bandai sends along the first screenshots from the downloadable Xbox Live Arcade edition of its fighter Soul Calibur, due out on Xbox 360 this summer.

Though it does not feature online multiplayer, the XBLA rendition of Soul Calbiur will have all the content of the beloved Dreamcast version along with online leaderboards.

An exact release date have yet to be revealed, but we expect the title to hit in advance of the July 29 debut of Soul Calibur IV (PS3, X360) and its online multplayer.

My first instinct is to say "booo" to the bolded part....but then I remember how online multiplayer didn't work out so well for Street Fighter II.

Oh, that's cool. I want to get a fighting game for my 360, but I'm not really that interested in online multiplayer anyway since I'm not that good or competitive. I'd just be getting it for when I want to play a game with some friends over.

Unfortunately I guess no online means I can't play with friends unless they come over, but as an XBLA title, it also means it'll be very cheap to buy, and Soul Calibur is quite a bit more accessible than Street Fighter II.

Who doesn't have a DC sitting around? What's the point if there's no MP? I'm sure most of us even have a copy of SC2 on the PS2, Xbox, or GC.

My DC died. 🙁

It still has multi-player but it is local. No online. So, there's still plenty of pointage.

If you don't have a DC then you could just play SC2 on the 360. It also doesn't have online multiplayer, but it's probably cheaper than this will be (ironically, since it's an older game AND it's being offered electronically so there are virtually zero distribution costs).

Are there any good online fighting games that aren't, like, $60? DOA4, maybe? It'd be nice to be able to play against my 360-owning friends, but I don't think it's worth shelling out a collective $120 + tax for it. I also don't care at all about playing random people online.
