Does one lot of cards have 16x and one 8x? Or is it max for each card (which can be 8x or 16x)?

And drivers were Cat 4.6's, whcih offer reduced speed, IIRC, compared to the 4.5 and 4.7's, but only by around 5% in most cases.

Nvidia = 8xAF and 8xAA
Ati = 16xAF abd 6xAA

No, the 5700 and 5900 series are hardware-limited to 8xAF, while the rest use 16xAF. I don't remember Xbit testing higher than 4xAA for any card in this roundup.

Really? I don't see 16xAF in my 6800 GT, using 61.77 drivers. I don't think there is a huge difference anyway.

I'm in the market for an x800 XT PE (like a billion other people), and this review mentions how it only requires a single PSU connection, and isn't as picky as the 6800 Ultra about its PSU needs. What rating of a PSU does one require to use the x800 XT PE? The 6800 Ultra?

Thanks. And thanks for the link.

I agree, but I think he should be tortured first, then executed.
Do U mean DeuSex II?

Have you tried the "patch" . . . it makes it "playable" at 10x7 on a mid system. ;)

Just for Rollothe 6800(Standard) compared with the GT, X800pro andthe 9800xt/5950u
This particular board is equipped with 128MB of DDR1 memory clocked at 350MHz (700MHz DDR), but 256MB models will be avaialble as well.

. . .

The GeForce 6800 with 128MB of RAM, however, is already available for about $295. 256MB models, which will outperform the card we have tested here, are available for about $340. We'd recommend that any one currently in the market for either a Radeon 9800 XT or GeForce FX 5950 Ultra to reconsider their decision. The GeForce 6800 is a much better buy, and you'll get the added benefit of Shader Model 3.0 support. If you've got the money to spend on GeForce 6800 GT or Radeon X800 Pro though, the extra investment will definitely get you a faster card overall.

:D

in this one, the 6800 beats the 9800xt in 37 tests, loses in 9 and draws 5.

:D

The XT shouldn't require much over the previous gen - a min good 300w or 350w generic.

the 6800 and 6800GT require about the same and the 6900Ultra requirea a minimuim quality 350w PS if you doN'T o/c or 480w if you do.;)

not really . . . i just thought you'd like the review. Their conclusions are more in-line with yours. ;)

and there is a 'place' for everything. :)

the 6800 has it's place - ahead of the now "value" 5950U and 9800XT - and behind the GT.

it won't be "my" choice of card but i will recommend it - currently - as the only ~$300 card to get . . . the 256MB version of the $340 6800Standard will be interesting to see . . . the 9800xt won't have a chance (except at being more than $100 less).

It should be in there, at least according to every review of the 6800 series I've read. Did you have an FX-series card installed previously? The difference should be small, but something's wrong if you don't have the option to go to 16x.
