Just finished painting the inside of my Xaser II with gold Rustoleum paint
Process:
Removed all the internals
Scrubbed it down with warm water and detergent
Dried and and let it sit at room temp
Applied masking tape to protect top and bottom panels since I didn't wanna go thru the hassle of drilling out the rivets et al.
3 coats of Rustoleum @ intervals of 5-10 minutes
Let it sit for 30 mins
Used my bare hand to rub down the dry paint : This loosens up the particles of paint that actually dry up in the air and stick loosely to the surface. Over time, they loosen up and settle down on ur hardware ... we dont want that happening, do we?
Washed the entire chassis under water to get rid of all the loose paint particles
Took pics and here they are!
update:
Painted hard drive cages
Modded front panel for controlling lights
Cold cathode & wire loom
Next:
PSU mod (gold w/ lighted fan)
EL wire, LEDs, cold cathodes, etc.
... and more!
