Hey;

Have been trying to get this build complete from Feb. and it has been a nightmare and am seriously considering a changing this dreadful motherboard. Got it on Feb. found it faulty, sent it for RMA, but had to pay for replacement due to courier damage.

RAM is lowered from default 3200 to 2133MHz

Installed a new GTX970 but sometimes there signal outputs and some were not. Had issues with upgrading to Windows 10 (Tried 12 times (3days) until it worked). Switched to gtx 460 and since it was the gtx 970 was not working properly. Switched to the 780 from my portable gaming pc.

Used AISuite 3 to overclock CPU to 4.5GHz the ram remained at 2133Mhz.

Have been running fine for a few days but the pc restarted out of nowhere and would not successfully transition correctly and would send to windows troubleshoot page. Tried to recover from the system restore point but success. It would go successful into windows but inform some system files are missing. Tried PC reset with no success as I try to install NVidia driver the pc would automatically restart. So I formatted the Primary disk and installed the OS fresh but the same result it would not upgrade to windows 10 and if I install NVidia while in the installation process it restarts.

Specs:
  • CPU: i7-5930K
  • CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i v2
  • MB: ASUS X99-E WS/USB 3.1
  • VGA: Gigabyte GTX 780 GHz Edition [To be Replaced by 2xTitan P]
  • Ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 64GB (4 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C14Q-64GVK
  • Storage: 512Gb Samsung 950 Pro M.2 Sata (OS) /
  • Storage: 1TB Samsung 850 Pro Sata 3 (Games)
  • PSU: Corsair AX1500i
  • Monitor: ACER X34
God Dam it, I am seriously considering replacing this motherboard or even get a whole new system. I have built 7 pcs:
  1. My first PC Build
  2. Cousin's PC
  3. Nephew's PC
  4. 3 x Mining Rigs
  5. Portable Gaming/Home Theater PC
Which have no issues but with this 8th build. Any recommendations? :'(

From my experience with X99 you need to manually set the RAM frequency, timings, voltage, and also CPU S/A voltage. Once I did that I could get mine running.
I have 3200MHz CL 16-18-18-38 2N, @ 1.3v and 1.2v CPU S/A.

I had some stability issues on my system before I got my RAM sorted out, haven't had many problems since that however.

I don't use software OC'ing, you'll get a more stable OC by manually finding what is a good voltage for your chip at any particular clock speed.

I have also heard reports that a lot of X99 motherboards in general just have memory issues, so its not an isolated issue.

There are many posts across many different computer forums with x99 motherboard issues and questions. Some of those boards are very finicky from my reading through those various posts.

Have you:

-Updated the BIOS?

-Use RAM that is on Asus' QVL chart for the board?

-Before installing any other driver/update after intially installing Windows 10, install the motherboard chipset driver (.inf)?

Outside of that, you are going to have some serious troubleshooting to go through. Could be driver issues or Windows configuration issues. Hard to say for sure without having the system in front of me.

You RMA'd your first motherboard because of issues, right?

Did a successful upgrade to windows 10. I set the bios (latest version) to default and i replaced the ram stick with a 8Gb 2133MHz ECC ram stick. Therefore, th ram sticks mentioned that I got support Z170 chipset. I read that they will work on X99 with tweaks on timings. Thought it was a better investment since corsair dominator 3200MHz with slower CL and costs the same.
