In all truth over my i7 2700K running at 1600-4800Mhz's 24/7 with 290X CF at under 67C with custom water cooling this ASUS P8Z68-V PRO GEN3 MB is Fast and Quiet and easily OC's to 5.2Ghz's,

I would love to stepup to an X99 DDR4 socket 2011 platform but I choose to wait at see as it's VERY EXPENSIVE but that ASUS P8Z69V-Pro GEN3 MB along with the i7 2700k purchase was probably one of the best PC investments I've made and still an enthusiast's contender some 3 years later.

No s***, Sherlock!! :awe:

It's better than the initial issue -V Pro of May 2011, and the Gen3 was IB-ready.

On the X99, "E" chip and DDR4 -- I'm more inclined to put it off well into the next year or early the year after. As long as the right parts are available, I won't even blink building this year's rage a year or so late.

Also, the 4790K looks better and better. And no matter which processor one picks, the nominal (sane) clocks seem to top out at 4.7. But that's not what you're getting: you're getting the FINFET technology, and other performance enhancements.

Still, it almost seems a let-down with less in nominal overclocks.

I'm just watching the cooling options for both E and DC chips. These "old" Sandy's seem to have more power than most mainstream folks need. I have to struggle to find more ways to use it.
