X850xt vs x850xt PE

Pros vs Cons. I see a SLIGHT clock difference...but any real performance gain? anyone know from first hand?? I see also a fill and geometry difference as well, but its so slight-
Just wondering...

Depends on the price difference there is a little bit of performance difference and unless you are running the most stressfully settings you probably won't notice. An X850XT is pretty much the same as a X800XT-PE

If you plan on OCing id just go for the XT.

Just as it was/is with the X800 XT and X800 XT PE there really isn't a big difference between the two, both in terms of clock speeds and performance. There was/is only about a 5% performance difference (max) between the X800 XT and X800 XT PE cards.

I've got an HIS Excalibur X800 XT IceQ II PE (basically an ATI-manufactured refernace design X800 XT PE with an Arctic Cooling ATI 3 Silencer). My brother has a Visiontek Xtasy X800 XT (non-PE) in his system. He got 78FPS and I got 84FPS at 1280x1024 with everything turned on and set to "High". Not a huge difference (and probably not noticable at all in gameplay).

BTW, my bro's system is a 90nm 3500+ running at 2.3GHz. He also an Arctic Cooling ATI 3 Silencer and had his card OC'ed to PE speeds (same as my card (520 MHz Core and 560 MHz Memory). At that time my CPU was a (S939) FX-53 with all other components the same as my current rig. So this so how close the performance between the systems is even though my processor runs 100MHz faster and has 1MB L2 cache as opposed to his 512K cache.

For the record:

X800 XT PE AGP = 520MHz Core and 560 MHz Memory (x 2) My card
X800 XT AGP = 500MHz Core and 500 MHz Memory (x 2) My bro's card

X850 XT PE AGP/PCI-E = 540MHz Core and 590 MHz Memory (x 2)
X800 XT PE AGP/PCI-E = 520MHz Core and 540 MHz Memory (x 2)

If you do a search for reviews you will see the X850 XT an dX850 XT PE compared - and you will see that while the X850 XT PE does have a performance advantge over the non-PE X850 XT the difference is minimal, just like with the X800 XT PE/X800 XTs'

So, the performance difference being minimal it really comes down to how big you want your gaming penis to be...

PE has vivo, regular does not. That's the only reason you'd want a PE. What are they going for know anyways? 500? Why not a 7800?

Not all PE's have vivo.
