x850xt vs 7600 GT

I am suprised that I cannot find any comparisons between these 2 cards as they are close in price. Can anyone help me out here and tell me which is the better card?

At stock speeds the 7600GT is slightly faster, but barely. The X850XT overclocks well, and will be faster at X850XT PE speeds. The 7600GT uses a smaller, cooler die, however it is already clocked very high and has very little overhead. So with eveyrthing overclocked, the X850XT will probably be faster.

Overall, though, the 7600GT uses less power and will be a lot quieter and is the better buy, I think.

actually, IIRC, the X850XT is faster than the 7600GT but with less features (SM3.0....), only card that can beat the X850XT PE by a small amount is the 7800GT

Ah, thanks. I did search, but only for 7600 gt rather than both 7600gt and x800xt. I will run lower resolution, so I will probably go with the 7600GT. I also like that it runs cooler and uses less power. Thanks all for the input

I'd go the for 7600GT as well. I do like my X800GTO2 (which runs at X850XT speeds) but I usually run it at lower than X850XT speeds so I can have the fan run at a quieter speed.

if i was buying new i'd get the 7600 gt. probablyu uses up less power, and has better support for future technologise.
