X850XT vs. 6800GT

I was under the impression that an X850XT is quite a bit better than the 6800GT - much higher clocks, same pipe # and all that. How come the 6800GTs are still so expensive?? The cheapest at Newegg:

is still 20 bucks more than the X850XT - that's just one of 'em! The rest are pushing $60 more.

And why would you pay that much when you can get a 7800GT for just a bit more?

I would think because the 6800 are more popular than the x8XX series. THe x800's didnt do too good. Right now Ati is probably trying to sell them all cheap, get whatever $$ they can, and promote + push the x1900 to the market.

x850xt is faster but 6800GT has SM3
