I did a clean install of RC1 on a separate partition and it installed without a problem.

The problem is however...
I downloaded the Vista RC1 beta drivers from ATI but they don't work.
With or without them, the whole system moves frame by frame...SLOW!!!

I disabled my X850XT in the device manager and now everything runs fine.
I'm typing this not from XP but from within RC1.
Problem is i have NO hardware acceleration.

Please help...any ideas??

I removed the card and put in my old AGP 6600GT.
Booted fine, recognized it and installed drivers for it all by itself.
Swapped cards back to my X850XT and it installs: Standard VGA Graphics Adapter.

What is my next move?
Do I retry the ATI Vista RC1 (x86) beta drivers again?
If not...then what?

(Mods: Sorry for the repost.)

I went ahead and tried the RC1 drivers since as no one was replying...

They still didn't work. So I disabled my card again so that the OS would run ok.
What next to try?

I wouldn't expect full functionality on a beta O/S. I'm sure drivers will be released when Vista goes retail.

I'm not so keen to try Vista. I think the next O/S I intend to learn will be some variation of Linux. ;)

I'm sure other people have this same card and they're running ok.
I even PM'd someone on AT who has an X850XT running on RC1 (AGP though).

I want to know if i did something wrong along the line or is there something that I have not done.
