Its a X850XT, Platinum, all the bells and whistles and is "only" $499 and, the most important thing is it's in stock. (Since yesterday).

The OEM cards are actually popping up now, some non-platinums, some platinums.

I (fool i am) after MONTHS of waiting on pre-order bought a non-pe (probably powercolor) for the same price $499 from mwave....and the next day monarch had the PE connect3d up with free s/h.

Anyway i dont think there will be problems overclocking the non-platinum cards to platinum level (non-pe: 520/540 PE: 540/590), memory chips should be the same (Samsung 1.6ns rated at max. theoretic 625) and the core difference is only 20mhz.

So..if you want a really NICE card...you might check out those...and/or wait a bit longer and watch prices falling. The cards ARE available !

Ive heard from many friends and ppl on forums that even using the overdrive program theyve been able to clock over 600/600 on the x850XT-PEs, which is very impressive.

Yeah, I went ahead and ordered one. I want to give ATi a try. I'll almost certainly keep my 6800GT, but we'll have to see.

You have a 6800GT, but if you don't like the X850XT PE, your going to keep your 6800GT and send back/sell your X850XTPE, is this correct?

I believe they are; I've never had one of their cards myself though.

If only I could justify the purchase of one of these. 😛 (But then I'd need a PCI-E mobo...)

how much bigger is the performance between this card and a gigabyte x800xt pci-e. is it worth it to spend 150 more for a x850xt pe? i can get the gigabyte for 350 =D

Yep, whichever one I like better I'll end up keeping, the other I'll sell.

I'm actually in an interesting situation. I currently have a Gainward Golden Sample 6800GT on my socket 754 system, but since I'm moving to nforce4 and PCI-e I bought a BFG 6800GT OC. After seeing this, I thought, what the heck, I'll give ATi a try. So, I'm going to have a couple of nice cards to get rid of (wish I had the dough to keep them all, but that ain't happening).

No, you'll notice maybe a 10% difference at the most. You could overclock yours close to or maybe even beyond the speeds of this one. This wouldn't be needed though, as the X800XT will be more than fast enough. Your money would be better spent on something else (more RAM, a Raptor hard drive, or maybe a faster CPU or better motherboard or something).

nope ! its only marginally better

No you dont, but that doesnt look like its a good one anyways. There needs to be two moles's into on 6pin. By the looks of the pic, its just one.

For the price, thats the fastest card out there. Mine is doing well.. havent tried overclocking other than Overdrive, but seems to be fast enough right now anyways.

Ordered mine yesterday, says order has been shipped to warehouse. I have this other ATI retail version that I preordered for $480, but I have no clue when thats coming.

Dude, I could kiss you for showing me this....MINE'S GONNA BE HERE WEDNESDAY!!!

And like the guy above me said, the price is hella expensive now. I'm so happy 😀

They boosted the price up to $568. These video cards and availability are getting crazy. I think the manufactures are doing all this on purpose to make the extra $$$. It is my opinion that they are keeping the supplies limited so people will be more eager to spend the extra money when they see some are in stock.

The problem with this though is they are selling far fewer cards. If they only sell 50 of them when they're $600 (vesus $500) then they are making less money than if they sold 100 of them for $500.

Not to mention that this low availability hurts them because if the other company has their card more available (like the 6600GTs) then they'll lose sales to the other guy, which isn't good for business.

And more and more their reputations are taking a hit (how many times did ATi promise that they would have their cards out by a certain time, only for them to not do this?).

There are just way too many factors that go into the availability formula for it to just be that they are holding them to boost prices.

I would like Anandtech or someone to go in depth and see if they can figure out what is behind all this.
