X850xt PE Disappointed :(

I loaded up Call of duty 2 ... and running it at 1680*1050 (dell 2005fpw's native res) and my FPS sucked hard core...i had to reduce it to 1280*1024 to reach 20 - 30fps. Here's what i have

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ venice core
1GB OCZ VX DDR 400 pc3200
Connect 3d PCI-E x850xt PE 256
DFI Lanparty NF4 UT


Anyone know what i can do to get my fps up... i have the latest Catalyst drivers also

Try to reduce some settings and levels of detail to find an optimum tradeoff between framerates and image quality.

You are trying to play a brand new game on a year-old video card, a game that has been designed for a console that is way beyond your computer. To top it off, at a resolution that's very high.

You have not been gaming long enough to see all the problems with this and why you have sucky performance.

Played acceptable on my Geforce 4 TI4400 Looked like COD 1 though. It does suck that a year old card cant do the latest games at the best resolution but thats the way it is.

Dont' bother with COD2. Its coded crappily and doesn't look as good as the frames its sucking down should be. (if you know what i mean).

Set it to DX7 and your all set. (it looks about the same, and has 100s more FPS).

COD2 = ridiculously GPU intensive aka poorly optimized.

I'm not sure why you would have bought an X850XT PE for PCI-e...7800GT, GTX, or better yet, the X1800XT would have been a much smarter purchase.
(Unless of course you bought the 850 a long time ago).

It plays great on my X2@2.4 and X800GTO2 @ 16p-530/600, but the game isn't worth the hardware that I purchased to play it.

ahh that why pc gaming is a terror. call of duty 2 works amazingly on my xbox (but i admit it probably look pathetic from any pc gamer's eyes)
