x850xt and FarCry

Okay, so I jumped on the x850xt deal from microcenter.

What are the best drivers to use for the x850xt? Whatabout certain incompatibilities, etc, I might have to worry about?

Will a cheap 420w PSU be enough to run it? And I should be able to overclock it as high as a x850xtpe can, right? Or do I need to flash the BIOS or something?

Oh, and in Far Cry, how do I turn on HDR?

Hehe, sorry about all the questions, but I just dumped $330 on this (with tax added in), I want to see how far I can take it.

It depends; if it's really crap it may not.

Overclocking success varies from card to card.

You can't on that card.

Poo... what do you mean I can't turn on HDR for that card? What do I need to turn on HDR?

To use Far Cry's current HDR you need a card that can do FP blending - NV4x, G7x or R5xx. Your card can't do FP blending.

Unless Crytek patches the game to use other forms of HDR then you're SOL.

Oh, oh well. Well that's disappointing... however I'm playing it right now with my 6600GT, which should be the NV43... it's \r_hdrrendering 7 in the console for patch 1.3 right? I still don't get any HDR though.

you could try to set your rendering mode (in the video menu of farcry) into paradise...it kinda "kinda" gives a HDR...kinda. Looks better than default.

my thermaltake 430W got chewed up by my x850xt, lockups until i switched to ocz 520 but im running 3 hard drives and an fx55
