Well my old nvidia 5700 that I bought in highschool finally bit the big one, so it seems I need a new video card. Unfortunately I cannot upgrade to a pci-e mobo, so I'm stuck looking at AGP only. I'm looking for a card that will last me at least a year, hopefully more, and get good performance at 1280x1024 (My lcd monitor doesnt go any higher). The two cards I'm looking at based on what I've read here on the forums are:

RADEON X850 XT 256MB GDDR3 8x AGP Video Card
http://microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0217999#rebate
250$

or

XFX PVT43ANDF3 Geforce 6600GT 128MB 128-bit GDDR3
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150089
146$

My question is, how much difference will I see between these two cards? (Any bencharks with both of these cards?) Will the x850xt last me considerably longer (Enough to justify the extra 100$)?

I play mostly MMO games, not first person shooters, so frame rate is not as big a concern to me as image quality. I would preferably like to get around 50fps+ at 1280x1024 and max settings in modern mmo games.

I have read that AGP is a dead end format, which is why it seems harder to find good cards compared to PCI-E, however I will probably not be able to afford any major system upgrades for 2 years (College student with no money), so I am looking to get as far as possible with the new card.

Are there any other sub 250$ cards I should be looking at?

Thanks in advance for the help.

X850XT should be 2x faster than 6600GT. If not more depending on the games you play. I would probably get X850XT if you want to make this your last AGP card upgrade. On the other hand, if you just want to hold yourself over for the next 6 months or 8 months, I'd get 6600GT and then buy a whole new motherboard, dual core and whatever fast PCIe graphics card then.
