X850pro vs X800GTO2

I see on new egg that I can get certain X850 for 250 where as X800GTO2 for 270

Is there something I missing why would anyone buy a card and mod it when you can buy the card you are trying to mod it to for 20 less?


Please explain this to me or tell me why I'm wrong thanks!
 
The X800 GTO2 can be modded yes...But not to a X850 Pro. It is modded to a X850 XT. There is quite a difference there...... X850 Pro has 12 pipes. Once the GTO2 is modded..it has 16....
 
If that X850Pro is not laser cut then you should be able to softmod it to X850XT but if it is laser cut, then you can't. Only the VIVO editions of the X850Pro aren't laser cut I believe so if it's an X850Pro VIVO then you should be able to unlock. The X800GTO2 though is known to be pretty much 100% unlockeable so you may have a better chance with that card than an X850Pro VIVO.

He was thinking that he could mod a X800 GTO2 ( $270 ) to a X850 Pro ( $250 ). Not a X850 Pro > X850 XT

Meaning, why would he want to pay $270 ( GTO2 ) to mod to the speed of a $250 ( X850 Pro ) card. Sounds like he didnt know he could mod it to the XT. He thought it was modded to the Pro.

Yes, definetely hands down for the GTO2. BUT....what if the mod doesnt work for him ( Whether he know's what he is doing or not )? Then the X850 Pro would be faster.
 
You pretty much got it right in that a GTO2 is NOT worth $270. At $270 just pony up $30 and get a 7800GT.

If you want to spend less than $270 then the card you want is:

Connect3d X800GTO

Its about $100 cheaper and will be a alot faster than x850 non-vivo. It will probably be a lil faster than a GTO2 w/ stock cooling. Peeps went crazy w/ GTO2 at $200 and the C3d GTO was $165 about last week. Its current ~$180. It will get price gouged like the GTO2s.
 
But he stated that ..... ( when you can buy the card you are trying to mod it to for 20 less? ) Kinda sound's like he wants to. Could be wrong though..
 
Still very helpful stuff thanks I am hearing things about the GTO being able to be modded would that mean GTO=GTO2=850XT or no could anyone explain what the differences would be casue GTO now sounds like the way to go

I mean are they = when both the GTO and GTO2 are unlocked
 
No...Im pretty sure..( someone please verify ) that it is only the GTO2 that can be modded to the XT.....
