X850 XT PE... are these legit deals?

Look at the ones that they have in stock and they'll be $200 more than that.

Its very common for etailers to do this. If you look at ZZF or Newegg you'll see a ton of cards that would be a good price but they're out of stock and always were because they create a new page for the same card but at a much higher price.
 
I think prices will still be pretty high, but might have settled closer to MSRP. From what I remember AT saying is that ATi's partners aren't expecting much better availability for this card for a while.

Perhaps ATi is focusing their resources on ensuring they have good availability of their next gen card? Who knows for sure, I don't.
