x850 pro Overclocking

Ummm.... I just got my new rig running... x850 pro VIVO, which is known to be able to soft mod to x850xt pe...

I'm in the process of running ATI tool... finding the max core. It just leveled off at 630 Mhz. Um.. wow. Stock cooling. Powercolor. IS THIS FOR REAL?!!
 
Ok I just double checked. The stock speeds of the pro is 500/500. xt pe is 540/590. Did I seriously just overclock 90mhz over the stock speeds of the XT PE on stock cooling?
 
Just found the max memory - 620. I'm now running at 625/620. The x850xt pe runs at 540/590. I think I got my money's worth... >😀

And btw - I used arctic silver, though still the stock heatsink.
 
Run a variety of tests. I found doom 3 picks up some things that other games wont. Also 3dmark. Watch em carefully. Different benchmarks test the cards differently. But overall, u usually just have to lower it slightly if u see some on one game vs another. Its usually like 5mhz or so difference. GJ 🙂
 
Well, actually, the max core was 632... I lowered it to 625. The max mem was around 622, and I took that down to 620.

God.. BF2 looks beautiful at 1280x1024 w/ high settings and 6x AA and 16x AF! mmm....
 
I'm going to go download 3dmark05, run it at stock speeds, then at 625/620, flash it then try the max core/mem again, THEN try 3dmark again. I'll let you guys know the differences.

Looking forward to seeing your scores, thats quite an OC, if that was typical, the X850pro would probably be a better deal than an X800XL

THat card should be able to get high 6K 🙁

Nice. I almost bought one of these to softmod, but I went cheaper.

There's a ton of x850pros on ebay for under $200 too. Perhaps a better deal than the x800gto2.
