x800xt AIW AGP 249.99 at compusa shipped free

I just picked the last one up at the local CompUSA (Boulder, CO). They really didn't want to honor the price but eventually they did. They claimed their normal price was $330 plus tax and this, $249.99 was just for Presidents' Day sale. I pointed out that the web site said through Feb. 28th.

This card will replace an AIW 9800 Pro. Thanks for the post...I think.

no, but it comes close and has a tv tuner onboard, I'd buy this if I didn't just order the 7800gs

but the real question is: does this card have dual link dvi? I know that the mac verson has it.

How does this compare to the AIW X800XL card? Is it any faster? Also, how does it compare to a Nvidia card, such as a 6800. Would it be worth it to upgrade?
Thanks!

OH MAN! That makes me wana pull the trigger as I'd been looking at 7800 gs's.

1st: Can it encode video from basic yellow red white cables (from my DirecTIVO)?

2nd: If not, is this still hot if you are not going to use the tuner?

1. i beleive so
2. meh

I got one of these cards last year for 320 and I think its an awesome card. Ive clocked mine up 20% to keep up with the more recent games, and it performs on par with the 7800gs. But beware, ATI's MMC software is incredibly buggy and at times i wish I had just gotten a pci TV tuner for tv.

Bastards raised the price to $279.99!
Luckily I still have it in my cart for $249.99. Just have to get permission from the wife now 🙂

this AIW X800XT has samsung 1.6ns memory that overclocks to X850XT PE speeds with ease as i have done it with mine. very good buy at $249.99 IMHO

I replaced the AIW 9800Pro with the AIW X800XT with good results. I use dual Dell 2000FP displays at 1600x1200. One is driven using DVI the other with VGA from the card. The AIW 9800Pro would drive the 2 displays but I had to use the Cat. 4.5 drivers and a $50 DVI splitter cable. The AIW X800XT is using the Cat. 6.2 drivers. Initial tests show a step change (almost 3X) in the 3D Mark score (no overclocking). Part due to the newer drivers and part to the card.

There are other threads and web sites that have reviewed the performance of this card and several other cards (Toms...) and based on their test I expected about a factor of 2 improvement over the 9800Pro (8 pipes vs 16?).

A friend bought the 7800EV(?) and his scores were indeed much better than mine with the X800XT but he paid about $80 more than I and the AIW X800XT has the TV tuner and FM tuner.

My system is built using ABIT IC7-G, P4 3EGHz Prescott core, 2GB Corsair PC3200 CAS2.5 Value Select, Fatal1ty X-Fi, Logitech G7...
