Deal is temporarily dead. Gateway got hammered and took it down. Next 2 batches are backordered.😀

Definite understatement. Only the first batch got 100% cleaned out though - I can say that much. So keep an eye out for it when it goes live again.

Should I be worried that I got in on the deal but I've only received 1 Email at this point? Wonder if I should've opted for faster shipping instead of taking advantage of the free shipping...???

same here, just one confirmation so far from gateway.

I just missed out getting it at a discounted rate because I'm a AAA member (thanks to Robor for info). The guy was figuring up my cost when he noticed they were gone from the web page.
In retrospect, I'm not that dissapointed...... If I gotten it for $391, like Robor, it would still be more than what I'm comfortable paying for a video card and for my system, it would be too much card at the moment. I would be cpu limited and I doubt I'd get that much more "wowed" over my current 9800 np. These prices will come down eventually, and I can wait until they do and there are more cards to choose from.

That is a good decision.

my order status now says:

Your Order shipped on 6/09/04

instead of:

Your Order is currently being fulfilled at our manufacturing facility.

already shipped in the future? /sarcasm

but its a change.

Still waiting in anticipation,
Y.A.F.

Edit: sorry about bumping a useless thread for the people looking for deals.

Mine says shipped on the 11th. Called. Still in shipping, but let them know that the web is misleading.

Update: I called and spoke to the sales person (Ben) that I ordered my card from. I explained the situation with several message boards reporting rumors of cancellations and varied stories about what's going on. His response was my order is fine and the current status is backordered. They are waiting on the cards to arrive from ATI and his system showed the ETA as 6/16.

He also said the CSR's are getting swamped with calls requesting status updates and they are not the right people to call because they don't always have up to date info. If you ordered through a sales rep they are your first source of information on your order stats. And for what it's worth he said all of those who got in on the deal before it was yanked off the website will get their orders filled.

As I said before, I'm giving Gateway the benefit of the doubt on delivering before I rip them apart on ResellerRatings. And if they do deliver I hope those who ripped them correct their posts.

(Posted in Hot Deals forum thread as well)

EDIT: damned quotes

I think there's a reason you're seeing these so far below MSRP at release.
I'm guessing by the end of this year SM3 support and Doom 3 performance will be keeping people from buying these cards.

They're not *that* far below retail price and I seriously doubt they'll be "slow" at Doom3 by any means. Honestly, I'm not all that geeked for Doom3 anyway. From all the screenshots I've seen it looks like another dark, indoor FPS from id and multiplayer is limited to what 4 or 8 players? I can't remember. Like I said, I might try D3 but I'm not all ga-ga about it right now.

As far as SM3, we'll see. From what I've read SM3 can't do anything SM2 can't do a little slower. Plus there's nothing taking advantage of it now anyway.

Doom 3 was origianlly compatible with a Geforce 3, and the Radeon 9700 Pro.

The Platform for Doom 3 will be GeForce 3 and above cards but supposedly you can play it on a Geforce 1 but you will have to turn ALOT of the visual off to play. An ATI Radeon 9700 and GeForce FX5900 would be a safe bet.

Games are build around the video cards APIs and not the other way around.
