powercolor x800xl
OCed from 398:493 to 436:520 using ATI tray tools on stock HSF

*computer running for better part of 6 hours before testing*

background apps:
msn messanger
ati tray tools (diagnostic real-time graphs)
firefox

test:
ran 1 hour Call of Duty (Hurtgen) with 100fps avg. [full settings, 1600x1200]
ran 3DMark03 complete test (10100 score)
ran 3DMark05 complete test (5114 score)

graphs indicate GPU was around 66C under load during 05 and 03, peaked at 68.25C.
after testing was done, graphs indicate GPU temp droped from 65C to 45C in under 15 seconds. I'll use these temp readings as idle and under load form now on...

For a stock cooled powercolor x800xl OCed to 436:520 (430/1040), is the heat too high? I plan to overclock a bit more (hopefully 450/1120) so will i need to get an arctic cooler 5 (or w/e number) revision 2 (or w/e revision) --> haven't kept uptodate on these coolers

after a couple minutes, gpu running 39.35C on idle

I think those are cool enough temps for a stock overclock. I also use stock cooling with a 6800NU PCI-E, at 450/850, and it's at about 45 C (idle) and 65 C (load). My 3DMark05 is 5201, overclocked.

not too shabby an overclock there man, nice work

did u bench overclocked? guessing so

thats the powercolor card, thats one of the few x800xls with the power connector on the board isnt it? i know the msi x800xl has no extra power connector. as a result the powercolour cards got higher and more stable overclocks
