Looking for some advice. I'm currently building a multimediapc - using a microATX board ( ie. the MSIRS480which has a PCI-E slot), AMD3200+ CPU, 1GB PC4200. I'm planning on using an NMedia HTPC case that, like most microatx cases, only has a 270W CPU. Thing is, I have this Connect3D X800XL 256MB PCI-E card lying around that I wanted to use in this system - not to play games or anything intensive, just to help output to a hi-def TV. It just occurred to me - will this CPU (powering a microatx board) be able to power this X800XL card for regular use? One friend says that my CPU is inadequate for my videocard, but another says that it should be fine as it's just a microatx card and I'm not doing any overclocking or anything.
Any advice would be appreciated! The only other things I plan to connect to this motherboard are a Hauppauge WinTV150, and a Linksys WPC54GS wireless card, SATA HD and an NEC3540A DVDwriter. I've bought everything already EXCEPT for the case/CPU and motherboard, so if this combo really won't work, I'm open to suggestions. I've looked at the Coolermaster ATC-620C-BX1 case that will take fullsized CPUs, but I quite fancy the NMedia HTPC100BA and would like to be able to use that if possible.
Cheers
