X800XL vs. X800Pro

I have a X800 Pro that is working perfectly, but I keep hearing everyone going on about the XL. How good is it and how much better is it than the Pro?

xi is clocked slower, but the pipes make up for it.

I'm sure those pipes allow it to scale better when enabling AA/AF and increasing resolutions as the trend is the same comparing the GeForce 6800 and the 6800GT

If you are considering on getting the XL, it is NOT worth it in your case because the performance between the two cards is not worth the price of exchanging or buying a new card UNLESS you can get most of the money back you spent on your x800pro.

The x800pro will last you until your next upgrade surely and I hear the next gen cards are going to be many times as fast as current gen cards.

Yes, the x800xl is a 16 pipeline card, but it is grossly overcharged in stores and online retailers. I've seen a few good deals that went by extremely fast so if you are thinking of upgrading, be ready to pounce on those good deals!

The hype is that the XL is slightly faster than the X800P and retails for $100 less. It's not an option for you, ATM, unless you want to factor in the price and hassle of switching to a PCIe MB, too. The XL will eventually show up in AGP form, according to ATi, but at $350MSRP (and with VIVO). I think X800Ps are close to $350, anyway, but even the $350 XL makes an equally-priced X800P a purchase only for the uninformed.

Your X800P remains a good card, as benchmarks show. ATi has just found a cheaper way to make a card with similar performance, as they should have a year after the X800P's debut.
