x800xl vs 7900GT?

Seeing these $299 7900GT cards have me thinking.....

Is there a substantial gain from going from my current x800xl to a new 7900GT? I assuming I could sell the BBA x800xl for $150-$170, the upgrade might be less than $150.

If you can get $150 for your XL, do it. Don't hesitate.

X850XTs are selling for mid $160s AR shipped, and should only get cheaper fast as the 7600GT drops below $200, forcing the 6800GS down from $170. It's not like ATI is going to run out of those cores any time in the forseeable future. And those 128 bit 90nm 7600 should be cheap for NV&partners to make, so they definitely have the option to completely punt ATI out of the low end. I wouldn't be shocked to see 7600GT prices coming down fast & hard to $150-ish in the next month or two.

The gain of a 7900GT over an X800XL with no overclocking is not quite 2 resolutions at the same frame rate. Or 1 resolution + more eye candy. You make the call.
 
If you can get the $329 XFX 7900GT Extreme @ Monarch, it's an insane deal as you can sell your X800XL for $130-140.
 
Thanks for the reponses and links guys. Yeah, that would be a pretty nice jump.

The $150 was just an estimate fr selling the x800xl, but it looks like it might be on the high side. Maybe I'll just move the x800xl to my HPTC and decommission my 9800pro.

I saw a link to a passively cooled Asus 7900GT. Looks pretty sweet. Might have to look into that a little more.
