I agree that the 6800gs isn't a bad choice.

You are wrong with your statement about the x800xl getting beat by the 6800gt though. The x800xl doesn't get beat by the 6800gt at all, take a look at the article below if you doubt me.

If you want to spend around 175$ on a graphics card, the choices are 6800GS and an X800GTO2 and for performance, the GTO2@180ish is as good as it gets until you step up to a 7800GT@275ish. There was a link in hotdeals to a 145$ GTO2 as well. They come with 16 pipes stock and the same clocks as a X800XL now but they oc a lot better since they're r480 cores with 1.6ns ram.

Get this card. It's got EVGA's lifetime warranty, which is only voided if the card is PHYSICALLY damaged. Which means that you can overclock it and still be under warranty! If it breaks under the overclock, just RMA it and get a new one!

To see how well an Overclocked 6800GS at 490mhz and 1100mhz(the one in the review is the XFX version at 485mhz, but 5mhz more obviously isn't going to make the card any slower) will perform.

I would still go with the 6800GS. It has pixel shader 3.0 which the X800GTO2 doesn't have and it has a bit more power than a Geforce 6800GT. A very good deal. Unlocking the GTO2 is not 100% guarenteed.

actually it is...or atleast like 99%...the 6800gs is pretty much exactly equal to a 6800gt just because it beats it and loose to it in certain cases. an x800gto2 unlocked w/o ocing is an x800xl which ties with the 6800gs/gt series...except it oc hella. sm3 is great, but raw power still goes to the gto2.
