I'm sorta looking for a new video card after skating by for FAR too long with a FX5200. I know both will preform reasonably well for the new games such as Fear coming out. I'm just wondering which is better for me.

I am leaning towards the X800XL just on what I've read about them. I don't have pci-express though, just agp so I don't know how much that affects the decision. Thanks in advance.

6800GT

AGP X800XLs were slower than the PCI-E ones IIRC. Definately giving the edge to the 6800GT in what is a draw in the PCI-E world.

I think you can find an X800XT for cheaper than a 6800GT though, u should look into that.

The x800xl is a good value since its cheaper and very comparable to the 6800gt. The bad thing about the 6800gt is that the agp version has broken WMV HD acceleration (purevideo).

So I'm looking at downsides to both AGP versions. Ok, so when still looking at the X800XL does the cheaper price make it worth it even though the agp is slower? I mean try to keep things simple to me, but does it take that much of a performance hit?

I also glanced at X800XT prices and I don't know if I'll be able to find it as cheap.

I would personally get a 6800gt unless you can get a x800xt of comparable price.

x800xl < 6800gt < x800xt

edit: in responce to your question an x800xl is an great card and is also priced great too. Its very close to a 6800gt and as much as 50$ cheaper so its definaly worth it.

Haha, all I get is conflicting opinions. Go figure with video cards. But atleast with it being split I know they're fairly even.

then decide like this, do a search on the FSFT section of this forum or pricegrabber and buy whatever you can find the cheapest.
