First let me give the specs:

ATI x800XL 256MB
Asus A8N5X
A64 3500+ Venice
500w Dynex PSU
2x1GB Corsair XMS
SB Audigy2 ZS

Everything is running at stock

For some reason randomly it will lock up with a high pitched whine and my secodary monitor will shut off, the temps are decent at the time of the lock ups. anyone have this issue/solution?
 
Mine locked up (but didn't have the whine), so I bought a Zalman VF700 and the problems seemed to go away (for the most part).

Even better though, the card is now virtually silent.

It might be worth a shot to try that out.

Thanks, I'm getting rather fed up with the MCE2005 at this point, if only WoW and HL2 could run on linux. I'm looking around for some decent PVR software that I can run on x64
