I can't believe my eyes. A PCI-e video card for MSRP! Finally ATI's got a card that compares to the 6800 GT for $100-200 cheaper. It's too bad it took them so long to put out a decently-priced PCI-e card that doesn't suck (X300, X600 :Q). I'm doing fine with my 6800NU for now, though it was overpriced I have to say ($340 :disgust: vs. $300 for X800 XL). But to make me amazed, they'd have to keep this thing in stock for more than 5 days straight. Maybe one more thing: I wish prices for video cards were linear with performance. For example if I pay $500 I want to get something that offers 5/3's the performance of this card. A lot to ask, isn't it? If this only had SM3.0 support and maybe AMR (ATI Multi Rendering (SLI), though mostly pointless) it would probably get a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for a videocard's price-features/performance ratio.
This is a great choice for any hardcore gamer. I just can't conceive the need for anything more. With such a reasonable (MSRP) price this is really a steal. I still don't think I could have waited from the promised late-January date until now to play my games though. A few days with a Rage 128 Pro PCI was a horror story.
