X800XL comparable to the 6800GT?

Yes. The 6800GT will have the edge in OpenGL games while the X800XL will have the edge in Direct3D games.

Both are roughly equal, as is the 6800GS. Don't know the cost of the XL you are looking, but if you don't mind a VERY small amount of work and risk then a GTO^2 should be faster and in the same price range.

I have one that I need to sell because of my upgrade to an X1900XT, it's a Powercolor X800XL VIVO edition. If you are interested PM me.

YGPM

Does this mean the X800XL is more likely to outperform the 6800GT in games like UT2007? Because thats the game I am looking forward to.

I would be very wary of planning on playing UT2007 at very high settings and/or resolutions with a 6800GT or X800XL. I know it easy to be caught up in the latest and greatest video card, but for a next-gen title like that the additional $80 retail a 7800GT will cost you is probably well spent.
