With all the X800XL cards they've sent out for review, that's got to be a typo. It would be marketing suicide to send review samples with more pipelines than the retail cards. I dont think ATI would make that kind of mistake. But then again, no AGP review samples have been reviewed yet! Who knows.

the PCI-e ones are definatly 16 pipe, I have one... as for AGP its possible they could change things but either the XL or the 8 pipes is a mistake, there's no way ATI could make the mistake of naming the 2 products identicly but having one so much superior, especially when the 8pipe "XL" is described as being either AGP OR PCI-e, two PCI-e XLs, one with 16 pipes and one with 8? Doesn't make an ounce of sense.

Maybe this is the chip that Sapphire will use. And pull another 9800"pro" stunt.
BTW, where did it say 340 dollars? I missed that.

j/k.. sorry, I couldn't resist. 😛

nice one Larry.

I guess it still thinks everyone but itself is a troll, it doesn't get why it pisses people off and gets banned all the time. Look in the mirror and you'll see who's the real trollo here.

If it's not a typo, then it's a pretty stupid move on Ati's part. There's no way anyone would buy a 8 pipe x800xl for $300, when you can get a 12 pipe x800 for $200. (Whenever those actually become available)

Well, here's my 2 cents. We all know that both NV and ATI are pushing this whole PCI-E thing very hard. Me thinks this may just be one of the first steps in the quest for "AGP obolescense". If they make 2 products, one AGP and the other PCI-E, with the same name, and the PCI-E part being superior, then that pushes the PCI-E version more doesn't it. I do think ATI may be trying to pull something over, but still.
