Hello!

I recently bought a POWERCOLOR X800 pro vivo and added an ATI silencer 4. Soft modded with a giga bios to unlock 4 pipes then x800xt pe bios and didn't get any problem to unlock 16 pipes (T°C max 50-55° after 2h of cs:s, idle = 40°C)

Well, i actually have a small but intriguing problem :
Everything works fine, but, in any game tested (farcry, cs:s, doom3, colin mc rae rally 2005 demo), if i put AA>4X i get lots of artefacts! This is specific to AA. I can increase AF to 16x, fine. Other options max, fine. AA 0-4X, fine. But AA starting at 6X : artefacts. I can hardly imagine where the problem come from. Tried 6X AA @500/1000 : artefacts. Temp is not extreme. Didn't voltage modded the card, but it is so specific to the AA that i don't think it would help. Ok, i'm really happy with my card. AA more than 4X is not essential i think. But i would really be happy to understand.
My drivers : nforce2 up to date
catalyst 4.9 - 4.10 (same results)
Any idea?

You could try without the soft mod, I'd be it is just an issue with what were the dissabled pipes. Regardless, I'd just run the thing with the softmod and just live with a max of 4xAA.

yeah it could be that a transistor used for 6x AA in one of those 4 locked pipes was bad or something freakish like that. Hence the card was sold as a pro with 12 pipes officially. Many times these things are just cstrated to meet demands but they could have just as easily not passed the QC and had to be downgraded.

Thanks for these responses. So if i flash again 16 pipes@x800pro i may have same artifacts, but not with 12... I'm not sure it's worse the risk to flash again to verify this... Unfortunately i don't know if i had same problems with 12 pipes. Maybe i should try and make my garantee work, but i damaged a screw of original ati heatsink sigh... Actually games are already good looking @4XAA =)

any other idea?
Uh, how about the most obvious one: don't run the card out of spec.

If you wanted a guaranteed X800 XT you should have purchased one.
