X800Pro vs 6800nu

here is an 80$ difference between the two cards. One has 128MB and the other 256MB. But is there a signifcant difference in speed that does justice to the difference in price?

Also werent X800pro 12Pipelines? ATI's site reports 16 for the pro.

And whats the success rate of a soft mod for 6800 into unlocking 4 pipes. Plus How much gain in performance will I get after that?
 
There is actually less than 80$ difference between the two cards cuz I've heard they're selling X800 Pros for 323$ at Outpost.
Anyway, there's a noticable difference between the X800Pro and the 6800 in performance, plus the Pro uses GDDR3 memory. I don't know about the 16 pipes Pros at ATI's website but the Pros sure have 12 pipes.
As for the success rate for unlocking the pipes in a 6800, I guess it's 50% or less, not sure though.
I would recommend the 6800 since it has a WAY better performance/price ratio than the X800Pro, especially that there's a possibility of turning it into a GT.
 
Are you seriously asking this.

X800 Pro no contest. And the 256MB is getting to be needed, So, I would take it. And the bandwidth of the 6800 severely cripples the card.
 
Definitely if you want to keep to card for a couple of years. In many current tests on the review sites, I remember them being close in performance. Maybe not at 1600X1200 and above. Goddamn there are actually higher resolutions being tested now.
 
ordered 2 X800pros and a 6800nu between the three of us 😛 ...I get to have the X800 😛

Any idea how much shipping is charged to Newjersey 2-3 days? Cuz I have to pay someeone to get these cards.

this is not a fair comparison, the x800pro is ~$20-30 in range of 6800GT.
and for $80 more then 6800 vanilla, this card better do better than 6800

if you are to blow ~$350, i would seriously consider 6800GT.

seem a lil too late to convince you. you should be happy with x800 Pro if you are upgrading from last generation video card
