Hi,

I had some conflicting reports from Sapphire at first. Some cards will ship with 16 already enabled, but that is limited only to the US.

Kristopher

Well, as far as i can remember - everyone (i know) who bought the card had to flash to get the 16 pipes enabled. I was also looking forward to buy one (still not on stock here) but it seems i could get a 7800GTX really really cheap (300$) from a friend of mine.... 🙂

Jayczar, can you post the exact BIOS flash command that you used to flash the card?

you bet, and this is assuming you have gotten all of your files from:

techpowerup.com

after you have added the files to a bootable device this is what you should type at the prompt:

A:\flashrom -f -p 0 sapphi~1.bin

[ENTER]

you should hear a little music from the bios and then voila....16 pipes and
overclock till you are stable or content.

like I said you should easily hit 520/540-850XT speed but 540/590 X850XTPE
speed and more should be obtainable.

not bad considering these cards are 400/490 default.

Thanks Jayczar, Looking forward to flashing when the card gets here. COME ON Fedex GO GO GO!!!!

I bought one online and it is coming today and i will definitely mod it. I will post up the result today later in the evening. I bought mine for $280AUD (210USD) including shipping.

Anyone wanna buy this Sapphire x800 256 DDR3 I just bought from Newegg a few days back for $200? Too bad this card wasn't available then, ohwell, all good 🙂

Send it back.

I originally bought an X800 Pro refurb direct from ATI. Sent it back under the 30 day satisfaction guarantee when I saw this.

Got my card on Friday and the unlock worked like a charm. All 16 pipes, and my card will do 530/620.

Mine shipped with 12 pipes, bios unlocked to 16.

I flashed with the X850 XT bios to keep better speeds off the bat. However, the bios tells it there's a Rage Theater chip on there and it isn't, so the driver can't load it and you get an error. So I went back to the original 16p Sapphire bios.

I'm just using ATITool to overclock it.

Hey, I just bought the same x800 pro refurb last month. I need to call them before they send me another back. I had to RMA mine....

Superguy; I'm not too worried about it. If I send it back I'd have to wait on the new one to get here before I could use my main PC again. 'Sides, I'll probably be upgradeing my video card in another six months or so anyway.

Well, this probably deserves a separate thread but...

I bought this card ( refurb x800 pro agp) 29 days ago from ATI's online website. It failed a week and a half ago so I go ahead and process an RMA. They (tech support) still have the card and there's no telling how long it'll take to return it to me.

In the meantime, I go PCI-e and buy one of these GTO2 cards. I called ATI up and request to return the card for refund. No can do, I don't have the card in my hands right now and by the time I get it back I'll have exceeded the time allowed to do this (CSR said this, not me). He could see it on his computer system that tech support had the card....

What a nice and neat little loophole eh? Since when do two depts. within one corp. have so little to do with one another that they couldn't work something out? Oh well, I told him I'd just ebay the card for a profit to me (when I get it back) and I would make sure to let the people at the forums I frequent know how they do business (done).

WOAH problem. For those of you who ordered it off Newegg.com...

I got my card today in a plastic ziplock bag????? Of course its in the Fedex box, but Isn't there a sapphire box that its supposed to be in? Im confused. Anyways please respond to help me out. Thanks.

I think there are two versions, the retail "Lite" version comes in a pretty box, and the OEM without the box, both cards are the same, I think.

That's how OEM hardware works. You get the card, CD, cables (if applicable) in a bag. That's it.

Also you usually get a shorter warranty, but you pay a bit less for it than the retail version.

I don't think the GTO2 is available in the boxed version. At least I haven't seen one.

Sometimes, depending on the warranty or bundle, it may be worth it to pay the few extra dollars for the retail box.

Today was day 29, I won't have the card back by tomorrow. I'm screwed. But I'll egay it and make $$$ off of it. Their loss is going to be my gain.

They didn't say anything about me having to have it back by day 30. I had to call for the RMA (wouldn't let me do it online) and the guy said no problem and to have it there within 10 days.

Didn't see anything on their return policy that it had to be there by day 30 either.

That was Wednesday. I sent it back Friday, FedEx Saver. Should be there tomorrow knowing FedEx.

We'll see what happens.

If not, I'll sell it on eBay, but then they never should have given me the RMA in the first place ... at the very least without saying that it had to be back by Oct 1.

damn psu broke down. Wont have this thing working for another 3 days now =(. So looking forward to it but I guess my psu just couldn't handle the extra power. Anyways will report back by the weekend regarding the flash and oc.

Can the X800GTO be unlocked to 16 pipes too? Or is it only the X800GTO2? I really want one now...

only the GTO2

Not true
- its also possible with the GTO fireblade edition (100% R480) / GTO Ultimate (80% have R480 Chip) and also PowerColor X800GT (100% R480) - unfortunatelly these cards do not posses a power connector and therefore u wont get as much OC from them as w/ GTO2, but the unlocking of the pipes via flash works fine.
