What is the difference (if any) between the two?

I am confused with the x800 naming. Is the x800 XT the same as the x800 XT PE??? Where should I buy one?:)

Ok, the X800XT PE is the AGP version of the card. The X800XT non-PE is PCI-Express only. I believe there is a PCI-Express version of the PE in the works too. The PE will be clocked higher though.

IIRC, the differences are clock speeds and VIVO, and the XT comes out with the short end of the stick on both counts.

XTPE: 520/560, VIVO.
XT: 500/500, just VO.

Who knows, ATi or its partners may well dump the XTPE and transition to XTs for both PEG and AGP in the future.

at least the PE version is clocked higher marginally.
Yeah I would be very interested to know how well does the PCI express perform compared to the current AGP

only difference is the XT has the same clock speeds as the pro but it has all 16 pipes and is PCI-Express only.

You are incorrect.

The difference between the X800XT and the X800XTPE is the name ONLY. All built by ati X800XTs will be PEs, and a very few other will be PEs. Most manufacturers will call them Xts.

They both have Exactly the same specs and clocks in every single way. There is NO difference between them. THey are going to have AGP and PCIE versions of both, as they are both the same card.

People have been over this before.

The X800XT is 16 pipes 500/500(1000) and PCI-E only. The X800XT PE is 16 pipes 520/560(1120) and will be both AGP and PCI-E. Many people are simply neglecting to put the PE on the AGP cards.

The X800XT will be called R423. The below review omits the PE form the AGP card's description in the graphs, but the test setup show correctly that the agp R420 is an XT PE.

Right now, there's *only* the X800XT-PE (520/560), but some stores/manufacturers are just calling it the "X800XT". Supposedly for PCI-E there will be an actual "X800XT" (500/500). VIVO, AFAIK, could be enabled for any of the cards, as the only difference is the clock speeds (and maybe the RAM; you could use 2ns RAM for the X800XT, while you need 1.8ns or faster for the XT-PE).

I stick by my statement even after looking at those UK links. They are just forgetting to use the term platinum edition sometimes. The X800XT should be PCI-E and 500/500 clocked. If it's AGP and 520/560 clocked, then it's an X800XT PE that they labeled wrong in the description.

Am I? AT also clocked their PCEe XTs at 500/500.

A quick check at NewEgg shows that Powercolor's "XT" is at PE speeds, so either they're omitting the "PE" or only ATi will use that suffix.

I was wrong about VIVO, too--it appears all XTs will have VIVO, and the PCIe XT will go one better with dual DVI.
