Check out this story from the inquirer: X800 XT. It says that the frequency will be higher on the XT model that what was originally anticipated. It also states the release will be May 4th?

Do you think this is a typo in reference to the X800 Pro or do you think this is a sneak attack by ATI?

Hmmm....

I think they might officially unveil the specs on xt and pro but only show benchmarks for the pro cards. Then they'll actually show benches for the xt 2 weeks later. Hmmm.... if they distribute the cards to the reviewers earlier, that is certainly better.

I think we shoulnd't focus on wether inquirer is right or wrong but rather focus on where 525/1120 XT could possibly stand. Because the NV40 fanboys kept screaming no way in hell will aTi match the performance of their cards....if it does that will certainly be funnny to shut them up.

I can't think of which is better "flies on shit" or "BS from the Inquirer"?

If true and the XT is marginally faster than the 6800U who is 125Mhz slower. I think Nvidia will release a 6850 @ like 475Mhz and just claim top spot.

they will release a faster iteration of same core later in the year, as usual

ATi may well have sent XTs to reviewers, as digi's e-mail exchange with ATi at EliteBastards.com hinted ("two X's").

As far as I know, these are the speeds for the R420's as originally reported.

X800SE - 450MHz core, 128MB 800MHz 128-bit DDR1 memory, 8x1 - $299
X800pro - 500MHz core, 256-512MB 1GHz 256-bit GDDR3 memory, 12x1 - $399
X800XT - 600MHz core, 256-512MB 1.2GHz 256-bit GDDR3 memory, 16x1 - $499
X880XT - 600MHz core, 256-512MB 1.2GHz 256-bit GDDR3 memory, 16x1 (PCI-E 16x) - $499

Maybe it's the pro that they raised to 525 to look better on May4th?

According to Kristopher Kubicki, Editor on Anandtech, the NDA lifts the 4th with it's offical release. Reviews -may- come about before the NDA is lifted.

I?ve heard 475 for the X800pro and 500 for the XT.

I could see 525 for the XT on the current 0.13 low-k. The 9600XT?s generally run up around ~ 580 on that process. But 600MHz is going to require a process change IMO.

The inquirer isn't that bad, they give u information that can sometimes be false but often they correct it later and they give me lots of legit news that no other site gives me. I think what you get from them out weighs the few bad stories u might read.

Of course ATI will do the same.

They are doing the same though. That's what the XT is.

I find it funny how nvidia got burned for this exact same thing. They saw that they were going to lose the FX vx. 9XXX battle, so they went out and increased the clock speed to try and catch up. By doing so, their cards ran warmer, didn't overclock as well, and everyone called it a hack.

Who knows, ATi could run into the same problem. The XT is coming out quite a bit later than the 6800 Ultra, and from the rumours, they had to increase the clock just to keep up. It will be interesting to see if the tables are turned or not now.

This would make sense as ATI is hold an event at Gameworks on the 4th during WinHec. They plan on showing the Ruby demo so I'm guessing at that point everything will be free game.

I hope so.... I am very anxious to see how the ATI products stack up against Nvidia's latest and greatest (I'm buying the best one as soon as the PCI-E parts come out) :)

Ati confrence info

If you click the link near the bottom of the page, you will see the pop-up teaser for the 420 release.
Sorry if this has already been posted, but i'm guessing they wil at least show the X800XT there at the event on the 4th, with the NDA being lifted shortly thereafter (within hours) and reveiws of the X800Pro popping up everywhere.

i'm still confused because of all the paper launches. can someone answer this for me:

which will i be able to BUY first: X800pro or 6800ultra?

the reason i ask is simply because the 6800 was a "paper-launch", whereas the X800 launch is "official", as far as i know anyway. someone on here suggested that the 6800ultra will hit the streets before the x800xt, but i'm wondering how he knows that. when will the 6800 even be available for sale? if ati officially launches the x800xt in 2 weeks like everyone is saying they will, won't they reach retail before the 6800?

I'm betting the X800pro will be in stores a week after the launch. I'm guessing they will be speed binning for X800XT's and release those when they have enough for a good run. I hear they are sending X800se chips to Jaton so they can stop making 5200's :Q , ok, maybe a big nada on that last part :)

We are sure that ATI cannot go much further than 525MHz as 600MHz is the theoretical limit of 0.13 µm marchitecture.

Theoretical Limit? Seems to me that the Pentium 4 is produced on a .13µm process and runs at 3.4GHz stock and up to 5GHz on LN2.
