However, alas, the motherboards to run them are not, and even if they were, for most people, it's an upgrade they wouldn't necessarily want to make.
$500 for two 6800nu's is a bit of a stretch though; aren't they usually ~$275 each?

$250 NUs
Lowest on Pricewatch was $266 last I checked, so ~$250 NUs by SLI time isn't inconceivable, unless PCIE versions defy pricing trends.
Why wouldn't someone want SLI?
