X800 XT Platinums on store shelves

For anyone still looking for one, Best Buy has them in stock, on shelves today. I was in the White Marsh, Maryland store this afternoon and they had 6 of them on the shelves in enormous plastic cases. Talk about anti-theft measures, those things weigh a ton! Enjoy!!

Those cases wont really stop someone from stealing. I'm sure if I had a partner outside in a running car, I could grab two and run out without getting caught. Just drive to a Best Buy in another town.

mud on the plates but they'd also get a picture of your face and unless you are willing to wear some makeup and a wig for it to be a perfect hiest...

I'd walk in with an afro wig and sun glasses, dressed in a cheerleaders outfit. Since I would never wear it again, I think I'd be safe.

yeah, and it's even red to go along with the holiday colors and stuff....
I don't think the White Marsh location is the only one to have them. I think they may be widely available now at Best Buy.

It's nice they're here and all, but if I were in the market for a card, I'd want to see benches of two NUs SLId at this point as they can be had for $500 as well.

Risk everything you have to steal a couple video cards? lol...

Well, if I see those "You cant steal me because I'm in a big plastic case" boxes something inside me wants to say "Fvck YOU! I can take that sheit if I wanted to.".

However, alas, the motherboards to run them are not, and even if they were, for most people, it's an upgrade they wouldn't necessarily want to make.

$500 for two 6800nu's is a bit of a stretch though; aren't they usually ~$275 each?

$250 NUs

Lowest on Pricewatch was $266 last I checked, so ~$250 NUs by SLI time isn't inconceivable, unless PCIE versions defy pricing trends.

Why wouldn't someone want SLI?

For me it means:

(2) 6800nu= _________________________$500
(1) dual PCI-e motherboard= ____________$150(?)
(1) .90nm A64 3000+= _________________$200
(1)WinXP (i'm a Win98se hold-out dammit!)=$98
(1)450watt+ PSU= ____________________$85
_________________________________________________
For a sub total of: _____________________$1033.00
Less what I could get for my old stuff _____- $150

Grand Total : $883.00

Umm..sadly, SLI is not in my future 🙁
and I would need a new HS/fan for that A64 3000+ so I could push it.....= more 🙁
