I just like the idea of knicknaming any card "The Plat."

Guy: "What's he runnin?"
Other Guy: "A Plat."
Guy: "DUUUUUUUUUUUDE..."
Third guy (gaming): "Plat." "Plat." "Platty Platty Plat."

Every X800XT Seems to be a PE. Are there any non Platinum XTs, and if so they are just lower clock speeds?

Every XT using an AGP bus will be a platinum I believe. The PCI-E XT's will just be regular XT's. Correct me if I'm wrong.

As far as I know, there isn't any regular XTs. Several people have said that ATi doesn't even list a regular XT on their website, only the PE. And from what I remember, either Toms or AT stated that ATi just replaced the regular version of the XT with the PE so they could clock the speeds up and compete more favorably with the 6800 Ultra.

As for CompUSA getting a big order soon, well seems like thats what just about every company has been saying, but they said that they would on the 16th and now its the 26th/27th. I'd rather wait on Gateway for about the $100 you'd save over CompUSA. After taxes and shipping you'll probably end up paying about $535 from them.

Now, you're willing to believe that CompUSA is getting in a big shipment soon, but not that Gateway will?

that is correct. there will be XTs that are not PEs, but they will be pci-e cards.

Gateway had them in stock when they advertised them. Honest. Just call the CSR I talked to shortly after my order when all the cancellation rumors started. I mentioned the fact that it's not possible Gateway has them in stock because ATI hasn't shipped them yet. She said I'm wrong because it's impossible for an item to be listed for sale on Gateway's website if they don't have it in stock. :p
