Well, I decided to keep the XT PE and it's sitting in my new system right now. I realized I'd be crazy to get rid of this thing.

Once the dust has settled and I can just walk into Best Buy and pick up a 6800 Ultra then I'll start thinking about swapping cards. If it turns out the XT PE is the better card then I'll just stick with it until I switch my system over to PCIe. Then of course I'll be going with NVIDIA because of SLI.

BTW, this card kicks @$$! I can run Far Cry at 1280x1024 with 4x AA and 8x AF and all settins on highest. It looks amazing. I'm also getting 12,800 and change in 3dmark03.

If someoen was really offering 600$ for the PE thenyou definately should have sold it. He would have spent much much more. You could have just bought almost to GT's for that price. I would have kept the GT but hey both cards are awesome.

Personally, I would have upgraded your mobo/cpu before getting a next gen card. Your CPU is a serious bottleneck.

I am brand new to posting here, and came following links about the 6800GT. Anyway, it has been a few months since I put together my computer, so I may be behind the times, but how is a P4 3.0EGHz considered a bottleneck???

There are two possibilities here:
A) You don't know what a p4 3.0E is
B) You don't know what bottleneck means

Wow, Nebor, thanks for the friendly welcome to this forum!

Let's see here, as to A, mmmm, it's a processor? With 1MB of L2 cache? Hyperthreading? Prescott? It runs at 3 frickin' Gigahertz? The point of the question, in case you didn't understand, is that 3 ghz is a pretty fast chip. There aren't too many chips that are faster. Are there, really? It's not like he had a 1.6 ghz p4, right? Now that would be a SERIOUS bottleneck. Are you being realistic to suggest that a 3.0ghz processor can represent a SERIOUS bottleneck???

Which brings us to B). Wow, how long did that little insult take you to think up?

Bottleneck: The delay in transmission of data through the circuits of a computer's microprocessor or over a TCP/IP network. The delay typically occurs when a system's bandwidth cannot support the amount of information being relayed at the speed it is being processed....(webopedia.com).

Obviously answering a simple question in this forum is beneath you. You could have used the few moments it took you to answer my question with something constructive. Thanks again!!

Which brings up another definition:

You are an absolute crackhead. I was ridiculing him for calling the 3.0E a bottleneck. Way to make an ass of yourself. I don't see how you could possibly have misinterpreted my post so badly. :D

I would however keep the XT, its the better card. There really is no debate on that.

I seriously disagree. I think upgrading past a p4 3.0E would be a huge waste of many. ANY current CPU bottlenecks these cards. I would wait for the next gen of CPU's to at least drive down prices on the current.

If you were actually referring to the person who said it was a bottleneck, then my apologies.

Since I had just asked the question of why a P4 3.0e would be considered a bottleneck, and it appeared you were responding to my question, I thought I was the one being dissed.

I am only a crackhead on Thursdays:D
