I was wondering, my budget being $600 which video card would be best for HL2/Counter Strike Source? I can order an X800 XT PE from ATI's website and they will ship it to me when available. Also how long do you thing it would take to become available?

If you can find one, an XT PE probably will be the best HL2 card. HL2 doesn't seem to require super-expensive cards though, could easily get away with a X800 Pro or 6800GT class card for HL2 and still play at high settings.

Ther is no way to know how long it'll take for them to ship your card. But given the many HL2 delays I suspect you will still get the card first  If you don't have at least a A64 3000+/P4 3.2ghz system with 1gb of ram I'd suggest a 800pro *seen it as low as $330 lately* and using the leftover cash to try and bring as much of the rest up to speed as possible.

Like DAPUNISHER said if the rest of of your system isn't up to par don't bother with an XTPE. You'll need at minimum a 3GHz Intel or 3000+ A64 to notice the difference. I think a a 800X pro or GT is a MUCH better buy than an XTPE anyways.

I heard that ATI won't be shipping their PE until October. If you can find another brand, grab it, unless you want to wait.

in the video forum, it was mentioned that ati may cancel the PE series. i 0n0 about that, but anyone who gets a PE is extremely lucky.
