X800 XT BLINKING TEXTURES

Hi,

I recently bought an x800 xt. Then RMA'd it and got a new one and I still have the same issue that I RMA'd the first one for. In games like FarCry and CS: Source, textures in the distance seem to blink or flicker. These textures are very very small and only bug me because I play so many games (aka the untraied eye may take no heed to them). I have tried many think to resolve this issue. I am running a Athlon 64 3500+ , 2GB DDR400 Cosair RAM, Twin 36.7GB in Raid 0 array, total about 500GB, Asus a8v Deluxe MB. I have a Thermaltake Purepower 480W. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this issue? BTW my voltages (viewed from ASUS PROBE are good except the 12V is at 11.49 idle and 11.36 under load. Is that an issue.

Also my x800 xt is a "non-platium" but it reads in windows as only an X800 series. Is there a way to make it read X800 XT?

THANKS A TON ALL. I could use any help ya'll could give me. Thanks.

NO not at all. Its at 500/500 standard. I have tried overclocking and underclocking. No effect on these textures. I did get a 6131 3dmark05 score :) . Still no effect on textures.

It's a driver/software issue. You could try a variety of things to get rid of them. Try a new driver revision (the newest are the 4.12 betas).

Try changing the image quality settings. If you have your texture detail maxed, try bringing it down one notch, then another notch. Do the same for other IQ settings.

I just downloaded the 4.12 betas. I seem to think its a driver issue as well. Im not at home or id try the drivers now but i hope the dirvers fix the issue. I have tried your changing the quality settings both in game and in the ATI control panel with no success.

If Asus A8V Deluxe uses an nVidia chipset, probably yeah. But guess what? It doesn't. xD

Anyhow... 11.36V is a bit low, even though within the range of +12V. Have you tried this card in another PC? If the texture flickering still occurs there, then there's something wrong with the card/drivers. Otherwise it's your PC.

here are two threads going over at driver heaven which might offer some help.....

This one was started by the ATI Senior Product Manager (seems to be interested in knowing what CPU people are using who are having this prob) 8 pages though so I didnt read through much of it.

EDIT: Couldnt find the other one I was looking for but I did see this one.... Not really any resolution there for you though.

Thanks everybody. Actually the A8V Deluz uses the VIA K800 Pro. (or something like that) not the nforce chipset. Thanks for all your wonderful help. BTW the newest 4.12 betas offer no resolution. Thanks

That purepower480 only puts out 18a on the 12 volt line same as the 420 purepower, might be the issue....

Insomniak's words scare me. Will I have trouble running a Sapphire X800 XT on my nForce 3 250gb chipset? nVidia vs ATi? Never really considered that fact. I'd hate to change motherboard only to be able to use an ATi-videocard.

Anyone? Sorry for the offtopic, but this created an emergency situation in my head.

You wont have a problem. Nvidia makes arguably the best chipsets. EVERY SINGLE nvidia based mainboard I have had, I used with an ATI gpu and every time it worked perfectly.

My home system uses an Nforce 3 250 and a Radeon 9800 pro, and I have no problems.

I also use an asus a7n8x-e with n-force and I have no problems with my x800 pro
