There was a thread earlier about this, however there were price constraints. If cost was not a factor, which one is a better deal/which one performs better. I really do not care about the SM3 support.

They are probably equal. x800 has a few more mhz on the core. Id get the 6800 just for the heck of it since theres a 50% chance of unlocking.

wow thanks for the fast response. I was going to add that I havnt really seen direct comparisons of each other. Also, its gonna have to be PCI-E, therefore no unlocking for me. Is there any chance of unlocking pipes on the x800?

Oh, its pci-e, I see.

I THINK I saw some pci-e x800pro vivos at newegg for like 300. Great price. So yea, a x800pro is a lot faster than a nu, almost equal to a GT.

PS: Forget what I said before, PCI-E NU's cant unlock.

EDIT: Get a x800XL for 300 bucks off newegg.

If cost isn't a factor, we can't tell you which is a better deal.

He can either get a x800pro vivo or XL. If the vivo unlocks it would be faster than the XL. I've only heard of agp ones unlocking though. I would just get the XL.

pro is only 2-3fps slower than xl so i'd go for the pro cause there's a good chance i'd get a x800xt out of it.

I wish I had pci-e. I would jump on this x800pro vivo deal so quick. But yeah, its up to him if he wants to flash the card with a XT bios.

I thought only agp vivos can flash...never knew pcie vivos could. Something for me to look into. Any other insight on this would be great. The reason I said not to take cost as a factor is because I got my 6800 NU for 200 off ebay and its great. I'm into source, in which case the 800 would definitely be the choice against the 6800 - I just wanted to know where it stood, in other games, in comparison to the 6800.

Is that a high 3d mark 03 score? My score is 10380 with following specs:

Neo4 Platinum
Athlon 64 3000+ Winchester @1.89 GHZ CAUSE IT WONT GO ANY HIGHER :(
512 OCZ Performance EL 2-3-2-6 1T
6800NU @ 415/800

What is the success rate of getting a PCIE Pro VIVO -> XT (PE?).

Do they all flash?

6800NU isn't a bad deal at all. i've overclocked this thing to yield 5201 3dmark05. a lot of people have got this card to high clocks. mine is performing around 6800GT performance, but maybe I'm just lucky. I didn't even replace the stock HSF yet (and don't plan to). any way, why are people recommending x800pro when the x800xl performs better for $5 more?!?

Lein: are you talking about the x800 SERIES vesrus 6800 SERIES or are you talking about the non-ultra chips (ATI Radeon X800 and nVidia GeForce 6800)?

not bad. your card must be overclocked, right? here's mine using high performance mipmap and highly overclocked 6800NU:

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=683352

what do you get on the HL2 CS:S stress test?

On my 6800NU:
Note: I got an error texture (not due to overclocking, some texture is missing) when it went through so I'm not certain this is accurate :(

CS:S stress test: 118.36 FPS
nVidia Forceware Settings: high performance mipmap, all optimizations enabled
HL2 Settings: 1280x1024 6xAA,16xAF, all advanced settings set to highest possible

Non ultra - X800 Vanilla vs. 6800 Vanilla.

I cant push my gpu too far past 415 or ram past 800.

The reason I started looking into the x800 pro was the prospect of turning it into an XT.

I wouldnt consider the vanilla cards. For a little more you can buy a pro or xl which is a in another league. You wont regret it.
