You can order a 6800GT for only $460 or so.

its a preorder and initial pricing from them...you know damn well they are gonna try and gouge the hell outta the people who jump on things first. So when it really hits shelves it may not cost that much man....just wait and see what a true retail price will be

I totally agree. Once all the small computer shops and online stores like newegg have the newer cards, I'm certain the prices will plummet. I've never seen a "PRO" ATi card go for more than $300. I remember buying my R8500 a couple months after its release for $340CDN.

Youve gotta wait man for your own benefit....the early adopters are ALWAYS gonna get the shaft there is no way around it.

you need to get out more. ;) the 9700pro started at 400$, as did the 9800pro with 128mb, while the 256mb version was 500$. all those figures are usd.

NOT "mature" beta vs. full out beta reviews...like those that are out now.

I don't understand how Nvidia can release the GT at $460 and expect to sell any. With ATI it was different at the X800 Pro was first out the door. The GT has a much lower priced competitor here.

dude its a PREORDER right now they coulda stuck 1$ as the price...doesnt mean itll sell at that price.
wait till the cards are out then we will see what the prices will be.
and on a side note it isnt NV thats selling the crad for $460 that was asus's doing (i believe it was asus at gameve) and we all know asus cards cost more.
just wait till everything is OUT....not on preorder.
