hi, i was trying to install an ati radeon x800 pro into my dimension 8250 and after i get a blank screen after the blue dell logo screen. i've tried everything suggested on the dell forums and i was wondering if you guys had any suggestions. this is what i've tried :
uninstalled my old nvidia drivers
used "driver clean" software in safe mode
tried interchanging positions of the pci cards (heard that could be an issue!)
tried booting from the cd
people on the dell forums have tried using a higher capacity power supply to no avail. the current opinion is that there is some sort of issue with the AGP version on the dell motherboard. the 8250 uses the intel 850e chipset. another thing i noticed when i go into the system setup is that the ati card and another usb device are both assigned the same IRQs (in this case 3). if i try changing the IRQ, they both change. another dell user had tried disconnecting the usb device, but still couldn't get the card to work. i'd really appreciate any help.
