My friend is getting ready to build a computer with a X800 Pro video card. He is going to buy the card from Best Buy for $399.99. I went to Newegg knowing that the video card was going to be much cheaper but I found out that is it priced at $461.00. I was extremely surprised that Best Buy had this much of a better deal than Newegg so I am now wondering if there are different variations of the Pro card or is it just that Best Buy has a better deal on this item. Here are the links to the prices: Best Buy Newegg Thanks for the help.

If your friend is the patient type (read: he can wait a month or more), try preordering a X800XT from zipzoomfly or CDW: about the same price as the X800Ps you're looking at, but much faster.

Otherwise, PriceGrabber.com will show you a few cheaper prices on the X800P. All are backordered, though, so if you want a new card now, a X800P may be your only option. It's certainly a fast card, but a 6800GT for the same price looks more tempting. Too bad nV only started shipping 6800s and 6800Us, with the GT to ship later (and possibly in extremely short supply, if Derek's "50-100" number in the Computex 2004: Graphics Cards Galore article is reasonably accurate).

no difference, retail stores abide by the MSRP as where e-tailers try to price gouge when something is available is limited quantities

I just bought it off of NewEgg. Last time I checked, and if I am not mistaken best buy was out of stock on them.

fwiw, I just got my x800pro from BB shipped to me on Friday - it had been backordered since May 30th (picked it up for 359.00 - expecting to recieve it via UPS tomorrow :)) - so perhaps you will have to wait only 1 week if its purchased from BB.
