New to the forums, and currently finding a better replacement for the x800se coming out of my Dell system.

I'm not really looking to upgrade, the x800se was doing fine until I decided another machine needed it but I suppose I might as well get something a little better.

I eyed up a Sapphire X800 256mb (I believed it's one of the revised x800s?).

Would the advantage of 12 pipes (over the x800se 8 pipes) , the extra 128mb of ram and the DDR3 ram (over the x800se DDR1) be greater than the x800se being 50 MHz clocked higher in both core and memory over the x800 256 and the drop from 25.60 GB/s to 22.40 GB/s in memory bandwidth?

I got the figures from http://www.rojakpot.com/default.aspx?location=3&var1=88&var2=0

None of which I understand fully lol :)

I'm not a heavy gamer but I like to play Farcry and FS2004 and I do notice the x800se struggle at times at average settings. On this basis I decided not to go for a x800xl because I wanted to get something at the right price point / for what I need.

I think that the x800 has a smaller fan than the x800se making it noisier, does this mean that it may run hotter?

Basically, would my gaming experience be graphically smoother?

Thanks.

Get the 12pipe / 256bit mem bus X800 over the X800se. Not only is it cheaper, it will stomp the X800se.
