x800 128mb vs x700 pro 256mb

i know the x800 is better but how much will the 128mb hold it back?

ive got a x700pro right now and my friend gonna give me x800 128mb card. im sure its got some power to it but is it limited to the size of the mem the higher res and detail i go.

i have x800 128mb, it should run about as fast as your x700 pro.

I doubt the ram will really limit it as the x700pro would be quite a bit slower. The x700pro with it's 128bit bus even loses to the 9800pro sometime. The x800 should easily beat it.

I thought x700pro was basically a rebadged 9800pro? that being said, x800 should be slightly faster in most applications

that x800 only has 12 pipes, along w. 700mhz ddr2 speed. it runs about as fast as a 700pro. maybe a little bit faster, but they belong in the same class.

The X700 PRO is a different arquitecture from the 9800 PRO, it is based on the X800 which is an enhanced version of the 9800XT. Look here the differences:

So, the X800 should be at least 20% or more faster than the X700 PRO cause has a higher pixel fillrate but the X700 PRO has a higher vertex rate. And the X700 PRO should be a bit more faster than the 9800 PRO, even though the latter one has a 256 Bit Bus, but the X700 PRO has a more mature arquitecture and a faster core and RAM speed, slightly higher pixel fillrate and double the vertex shader power. Sorry for the scrambled table, but I tried thousands of times to align it, anyways

The 9800XT was a higher clocked version of the 9800 Pro with 256mbs of RAM & will outperform the X700 in many benchmarks because of its 256 bit memory bus vs the X700's 128 bit ... to put this in perspective, both cards are outperformed by a 6600GT in most games.

Yeah, most benches I see places the x700pro about the same as the 9800pro...even losing in higher res/aa+af. Thus its 128bit bus will limit it more than the x800's 128mb ram.

The review below features the x800, x700 pro, 9700 pro and 9600 XT tested with the latest benchmarks and games. In the final result it says that the x800 is 20% faster than the x700 Pro.

The BUS not necessary means higher performance, you can see that the 6600GT with it's 128-Bits can perform up par against the 256-Bits of the Radeon 9800XT, and also you can see the 7600GT with it's 128-Bits outperforms the GeForce 6800 Ultra's 256-Bits memory interface and trade blows with the X850XT, but the latter one often outperforms with a very slight margin. The performance is about Pixel Fillrate, Shader Fillrate, Vertex Fillrate and Memory Bandwidth and architecture efficiency. The benefit of the 256-Bits can be seen in cases like when you raise the resolutions and you are not GPU limited.
