I know that Nvidia doesn't officially support PCI-E 3.0 with a 3930k CPU, unless that's changed, but do AMD cards officially work with PCI-E 3.0 on X79 with a 3930K? I don't there would be a real performance hit from using 2.0 X16, but having 3.0 would be nice anyways. Also, no crossfire bridge will be nice.

From what I heard, there are no issues with PCI-E 3.0 on X79 with AMD. Someone else can chime in to confirm this as well. I had Nvidia when I was on X79.

No Issues here (Asus P9X79 Pro, 3930k), both R9 290x shows as 3.0 x16 @ x16 in GPU-z.

AMD cards run at PCI-E 3.0 by default on X79 / SB-E. It worked day one when I bought 7970s new. NVidia was the only one that chose to limit X79 / SB-E to 2.0 through their drivers.
