Hey

I know this website were you can choose some components for a computer and they install it.
I have put together this computer:
-AMD Athlon 64 3500+
-Kingston 2*512 MB Ram
-160 GB Seagate 7200 Rpm

Now which Video Card is best: X700Pro or 9800Pro
The 9800Pro card is 128 MB.
They cost the same on the site. Which one should i choose?

EDIT: Spelling

whats the website? and what motherboard do you have because one is pcie express (x700 pro) and one is AGP (9800 pro).

i believe the X700pro is faster than the 9800Pro. Dont quote me on that tho, i only read prelim reviews comparing the two. PCI-E will give you a greater upgrade path.

I just found this review of the X700 cards: Link

In a couple of game benchmarks the 9800Pro is better than the X700Pro
Can this be true?

EDIT: I have now found an other review of the X700Pro: Link

Here the X700Pro owns the 9800Pro. Video cards is confusing!

The 9800 Pro is faster then the x700 pro in pretty much everything except 3dmark. I would take a 9800 pro over an x700 pro any day, but an x700xt over a 9800 pro.

I'd take the X700Pro because PCI-express mobos are more futureproof than AGP, and in the next upgrade you won't have to upgrade your mobo along with your video card. Plus, the X700Pro is on par/a little slower than the 9800 Pro.

I'm thinking of going with a Sapphire X700Pro. But does it matter if i take a Powercolor, Sapphire, MSI or others. Is there any diffrence between them if they all are based on same chipset?

Like PFD said, PCI-e is the new tech and the 9800pro does not come in that flavor.

I think best is to buy X700pro, because when you will overclock it, you should have card faster then 9800xt, but you have to pick up best piece for overclocking, good luck ;-)

I have one and its great, only weird thing is that ATI Catalyst Control center isnt working for me, it gives an error every time it tries to start.

Hmm i have a question. One of you wrote something about overclocking the X700Pro to 9800XT performance. What is the risks vs. the advantages of overclocking? How do you know how much you can overclock a card?

Last night me and my friend tried to overclock an old GeForce 2 MX 440 with RivaTuner. After clocking it up to 20 extra Mhz the screen went black and we had to restart and rush into RivaTuner to get the clock down 😉. This was funny with an old card but i don't wan't to ruin my new card.
